Confronting the Crisis of Abuse

I'M SAFE | A BEACON OF LIGHT IN A DARK WORLD

The journey of "I'm Safe" is a story shaped by conviction, urgency, and an unshakable belief that technology can be a force for good. Samson and his twin brother Giftson, the founders of Ruah Tech, were driven by a calling to use technology as a tool for transformation. Their mission, "Transforming culture through technology," has been the guiding light for their work since the inception of their company in 2015. Born in South India and having spent the last 14 years in Adelaide, Australia, Samson pursued his master's in International Business. However, his real adventure began when he felt a divine nudge towards something bigger. This calling led to the creation of Ruah Tech, a company named after the Hebrew word "Ruah," meaning Spirit, inspired by the verse: "Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit," says the Lord (Zechariah 4:6).

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the world witnessed a surge in cases of child abuse and domestic violence. In India alone, over 91,000 cases of child abuse were reported in just the first 11 days of lockdown. In the USA, 840,000 women and children go missing every year. These staggering numbers highlighted a crisis that could not be ignored. Samson and Giftson had already seen the rape culture, domestic violence, and abuse that many women face daily. The pandemic's impact made it clear that the world was in a crisis, and they couldn't stay silent. They felt a divine calling to address this issue from a technological standpoint. They envisioned a solution that would shield and empower women and children; thus, "I'm Safe" was born.

"I'm Safe" is designed with the safety of women in mind. It offers a range of features that provide real-time protection and support. The app includes real-time location sharing to ensure loved ones can monitor the user's location and well-being. It also has a quick and discreet SOS alert activation in case of emergencies, notifying designated contacts for immediate assistance. The Fake Call feature allows users to simulate an incoming call, providing an excuse to step away from potentially dangerous situations. Additionally, the Anonymous Recording feature allows users to record their surroundings discreetly, which can be useful during internal inquiries. The app also has pre-registered helpline numbers for quick access to emergency contacts. After three years of tireless work, navigating challenges, gathering feedback, and refining their vision, "I'm Safe" is now live on app stores with over 33,000 users and counting.

"I'm Safe" has already garnered over 33,000 users and has established partnerships with 15+ organisations in 5+ countries. The goal is ambitious yet achievable: to have 1 billion women globally using the app within the next 10 years, effectively preventing abuse and ensuring safety. The app's core features include real-time location sharing, quick SOS alert activation, Fake Call, Anonymous Recording, and pre-registered helpline numbers. These features are designed to provide immediate assistance and protection to women in danger.

The driving force behind "I'm Safe" is a deep-rooted faith and a commitment to justice. Samson and Giftson believe that technology should be used as a tool for God's justice. Their work is a response to a higher calling, a way to bring light into the darkest places. As an Indian man, Samson has seen the struggles of women in his own country. As an Australian resident, he has witnessed domestic violence cases destroying families. As a Christian, he believes that technology should be used as a tool for God's justice.

The journey of "I'm Safe" is far from over. Samson and Giftson are reaching out to leaders, believers, and world-changers to join them in this mission. If you believe in the power of technology to make a difference and want to stand for the safety and dignity of women, "I'm Safe" invites you to be part of this transformative journey. Together, we can change lives, one tap at a time.
